News · Knights lucky to Escape

The Riley Wildcats used teamwork to almost upset the Marian Knights on their own field Thursday night.  Trailing by two goals midway thru the 1st half, Junior Luis Bravo intercepted a Knight’s pass to race to goal and put it by the Marian keeper.  Riley leveled the playing field after Brandon Molina crossed in the ball and Bravo beat the keeper to head the ball into the goal.

The away crowd of Riley supporters made their voices heard and both teams had chances at both ends.  Alejandro Rendon in goal for Riley had another good night as he saved a penalty kick late in the first half.  The second half saw the Knights apply pressure to the Wildcats, but it took a counterattack to beat the Riley defense.  Trailing by a goal the Wildcats pushed for the equalizer. Bravo took a shot from 30 yards out that saw the Marian keeper just push it over the crossbar.  The Knights added a 4th goal to see out the game. This young Wildcat team is earning respect as they continue to improve.

The Wildcats are back in action on Wednesday, September 12th at Jackson Field for Senior Night.  Come out and support the Class of 2019!
