News · Young Wildcats make some History

Riley’s boys’ soccer team traveled to John Glenn on Tuesday night.  After having to wait in the sun for a 3rd referee to appear the Wildcats blazed quickly to a 2-0 lead. The midfield and forwards worked well together and the team was unlucky not to be up by more.  However late the in the half a John Glenn forward found space in the box and put it by Alejandro Rendon the keeper for a goal.

After the break, the Falcons came out strong and soon it was all tied at 2.  Riley quickly regrouped and when Brandon Molina found himself alone at the top of the box with the ball moving towards him, he did not hesitate and struck the ball low and past a shocked Falcon keeper.  However, the game got as hot as the night air shortly after this. Glenn forwards broke through the Wildcat’s defense and made it 3-3. The Wildcats refused to wilt and when Miguel Renteria passed a 40-yard pass across the pitch to a running Jose Gonzalez, the young player made no mistake and put a left-footed shot into the fall post.  Riley’s defense led by Senior Jon Ortega kept the Falcons from equalizing and the Wildcats won 4-3. It was Riley’s first win at John Glenn and now they have won 2 in a row from the Falcons.
